Google Launches New Google News Publisher Center

On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, Google announced the launch of a new publisher center. As per the official statement given by Google, the new Publisher Center allows webmasters to manage how their content is displayed across Google products.

This Publisher Center is an amalgamated version of two existing tools, that is, Google News Publisher Center and Google News Producer. It comes with enhancements on functionality and user experience as now it takes just one tool to organize and manage a whole website or switch between the multiple sites.

Now, it incorporates all Google Producer functionalities and accepts Website URL, RSS, Personalized and video feed. This Publisher Center comes with new traits like simpler publication’s identity management or changing theme logos to dark or light mode based on user devices.

Press Release of Google says, “Additionally, publishers can now point to the URLs for their website’s sections instead of RSS to configure sections in Google News. Content for News will now come directly from the web, just as it does for Search,”

It means publisher do not have to depend upon RSS feeds to get featured in Google News and now they can directly point to the URL. It means now Google News can collect the content directly from the web, just like how it crawls and indexes content for the usual search results.

However, the new Publisher Center tool is currently launched only in the previous existing languages, i.e., English, German, French, and Spanish and is expected to be expanded in many more languages in the near future.

As most of you know Google News Publisher Center is not a CMS (Content Management System). It means your content is developed on any other CMSs and is pulled on to Google News for post-production.
